FIU vs Louisiana Tech Betting predictions

Earlier this week, I wrote about the under 50.5 points in Navy-Notre Dame being my best bet of 'Week 0'. But I got a little grief about trying to get away with just ONE PICK on college football's opening day.

So, I'm back with another best bet for 'Week 0' : road 'dog Florida International (+11) over Louisiana Tech. Now, let go of your noses and read why right here:

FIU (+10.5) OVER LOUISIANA TECH

Disclaimer: I attended and graduated from Florida International, so I have a soft spot for the Panthers. For me, there's nothing like that 'little' school tucked away in a corner of Miami, FL.

I also love the Panthers as double digit road underdogs vs. Louisiana Tech.

With so many other games on the betting board, it's no surprise this line hasn't seen a lot of action since being released. And that's fine with me.

Betting on FIU with Confidence

While, FIU, losers of four straight to end the 2022, gave up at least 30 points in 10 of 12 games last season, they pulled off three outright upsets, including a 42-34 win over the Bulldogs. In fact, Louisiana Tech had won four straight in the series.

I know 'Tech added transfer QB Hank Bachmeier and WR Decoldest Crawford, but their defense, which returns just four starters from last season, gave up close to 470 yards a game in 2022.

For as bad as FIU was last season, the Bulldogs lost six of seven to finish up.

And their defense was a big reason why.

Therefore, I expect Florida International to be very competitive in this game, while trying to control the clock, and hide their own defense. Remember: starting this season, the clock will not stop on first downs in play unless it's the last two minutes of each half. So, (+11), in my opinion, is too good to pass up here.

Especially for a Conference USA opener.

Bet: Florida International (+11)
