Win Total: 8.5 (-130/+110)
Despite a string of early-season injuries to key players, including losing LB T.J. Watt in Week 1, not to mention rookie QB Kenny Pickett's concussion woes, the Steelers, 6-1 straight up in their last seven games of the 2022 season, finished 9-8.
And after consecutive nine-win seasons, Remix Sports Media expects the Steelers to make the AFC playoffs this season with Pittsburgh Steelers Betting odds.
Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Odds
Here are three reasons why you should bet the 2023 Pittsburgh Steelers to win over 8.5 games:
1.) Despite multiple concussions, I'm sold Pickett, w
ho played well during a 4-0 straight up run late in the season, while getting better at taking care of the ball, is on his way to stardom.
Overall, Pickett complied a Top-15 passing grade, while dealing with a banged up OL, and RB Najee Harris. Still, the Steelers barely missed getting into the playoffs. Not too bad for a rookie QB. Add WR George Pickens to the mix, and finishing over .500 doesn't seem out of the question. It's worth mentioning, again, that the Steelers finished the season 6-1 - and all the wins were by eight points or less. This after a 3-7 start.
(I also think the Ravens and Browns are a bit overpriced when it comes to the current betting markets.)
2.) Defense still rules the day in Pittsburgh. The Steelers, who had an AFC-best 20 interceptions in 2022, looked a lot different on defense when Watt returned from injury. Plenty was made of the Steelers being able to take advantage of a weak schedule (i.e. inferior QBs) towards the end of the season, but let's not forget Pittsb
urgh went 2-6 straight up to start 2022.
The Steelers success, or much of it, is still dictated by their defense, which showed what it can do when applying pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Especially, when healthy, which they were late in the season. Th
e Steelers are currently favorites in nine of their scheduled games this season. And it's because of their vaunted defense.
3.) Pittsburgh plays six of their first nine games at home, which includes hosting the 49ers in Week 1 and the Ravens in early-October. So, getting off to a good start could be in the cards. Pittsburgh travels across the country to play the Rams, in addition to playing three of their last four games of the regular season the road. They also have trips to Cleveland and Cincinnati in November.
Sports Betting Analyst + Prediction - Pittsburgh
But they get the rest of the NFC West and AFC South in 2023, so the Steelers overall schedule is a bit on the soft side.
Bet: We find value (even at -130) that the Steelers can get to nine wins, especially given their schedule. Over it is ..
